    What is royalty free music?

    All music in SyncCloud is known as ‘royalty free’. This means you can use the music you have purchased in accordance to your licence agreement for a one off fee with no need to pay additional licence fees based on usage. Our licences do not include public performance rights. If you are unsure whether your project falls under the scope of public performance, please contact your local Performance Rights Organisation (PRO).

    How am I allowed to use the music I license from SyncCloud?

    We offer 3 simple music licence options:

    Standard Licence – £9.99

    SyncCloud’s Standard Licence covers the following uses:

    1. internet videos;
    2. corporate videos;
    3. and all non-commercially distributed projects with a 5,000 copy limit for a downloaded or physical end product.

    This licence can be used for a single project, worldwide in perpetuity but does not cover broadcast use.

    Premium Licence – £49.99

    SyncCloud’s Premium Licence covers everything that the Standard Licence covers plus:

    1. advertising per project on all media in a single territory;
    2. use on TV, radio and cinema with a broadcast audience of up to 10 million (If broadcasting we require you to submit a cue sheet of the music used to the PRO where the production is being broadcast);
    3. use in apps, games and DVDs with unlimited copies of a downloaded or physical end product; and
    4. industry events and theatre production and includes unlimited distribution worldwide of projects intended to generate revenue.

    This licence can be used for a single project, worldwide and in perpetuity.

    Premium Plus – £399

    SyncCloud’s Premium Plus Licence is the same as the Premium Licence but includes the added benefits of:

    1. unlimited copies of a downloaded or physical end product;
    2. unlimited broadcast audience;
    3. a theatrically released film;
    4. advertising per project on all media, worldwide.
    Are there restrictions on the tracks I license from SyncCloud?

    Yes. You can only use the tracks in accordance to the licence you have purchased, whether for personal use for your clients or employer. SyncCloud’s music can not be sold by itself, transferred, bartered, traded, shared, leased, or given away to any other party and the licence may not be subleased to a third party. The music from SyncCloud can’t be resold except to the extent that is embedded in your own work as part of a finished end product. You can’t claim the music as your own or market it as your own. You can not sing over or record additional instruments to the track – you can create your own loop from sections of the track, fade in and out of the track and adjust the volume of the track. You can not sell or distribute the track.

    How and when do I receive the music I license from SyncCloud?

    You will receive any tracks you have licensed from the SyncCloud as soon as the transaction has been processed. The download links for the WAV file will be in your account page. When you click on the download link, it will automatically start to download to your device.

    Why do I need to submit a cue sheet to the Performing Rights Organisation when I intend this music to be used on TV and Radio?

    When music is used on TV and Radio it generates royalties owed to the writers of the track. This is usually covered by blanket licences paid by broadcasters. The cue sheet you submit notifies the PRO that a track is being used and they will distribute the correct amount of royalties due to the writers. It’s very important that cue sheets are completed for productions that are publicly broadcast, such as TV, radio, film and theatrical productions and advertisements. Track details for cue sheets can be found in the ‘order history’ page when you continue to ‘view order’. If you are unsure whether your project falls under the scope of public performance, please contact your local Performance Rights Organisation (PRO).

    I paid for a licence but I have noticed an extra fee on my card statement. Why is this?

    Any extra charge does not come from SyncCloud. The total you see when you pay on screen is the amount SyncCloud receives. Extra fees on your statement could be a foreign transaction fee charged by your bank. If you are outside of the UK, additional transaction fees may apply. Check with your bank.

    I received a notice from YouTube that the music I licensed from SyncCloud belongs to a third party. What do I do?

    Music uploaded to the SyncCloud can only be done so if the uploader (composer/artists) has the rights to do so and the uploader gives you the right to use their music under the licence agreement purchased. So you are 100% clear to use the music. Unfortunately, false or mistaken copyright claims are a known issue with YouTube and music libraries, so if you do receive a notification from YouTube or any other platform, please counter the claim with your SyncCloud licence and invoice for proof of purchase and the claim will be dropped. Please note, DO NOT upload your project to YouTube’s Content ID system. This is not allowed as it will cause mistaken copyright claims.

    If I buy a licence for a track, can I sing over or add instruments?

    No this is not allowed. You can of course record your voice over and add the music as background for an audiobook, storytelling, hypnotherapy, guided meditation, self-help programmes or any kind of narration, but adding to the composition is not allowed.

    Can I return a music file and get a refund?

    Once you have purchased a track, SyncCloud cannot offer a refund unless you have been unable to download the track.

    What's a loop?

    A loop means a section of the track that is repeated over and over. You are allowed to create your own music loops from the track(s) you have licensed.

    What type of file format is the download link?

    On the platform you hear the track as an mp3 format. When you license a track, we send a download link to the WAV version (as this is lossless, broadcast quality). You can of course convert this to mp3 or any other preferred format.

    Is transferring money safe on your website?

    Yes! SyncCloud does not handle your payment or any payment data. This is processed by https://stripe.com

    Are my contact details safe with SyncCloud?

    Yes, we respect your privacy and will not share, give, rent or sell the e-mail addresses or personal contact information of our clients to any third party. SyncCloud will only send information and e-mails to customers who have given us permission to do so. You can unsubscribe from these at any time.

    Isn't it unusual to pay a fee to a publisher/library?

    Yes! Please don’t confuse SyncCloud as a publisher/music library. SyncCloud is simply a portal for you to present your tracks to people looking for music. End users licence those tracks through the legal boundaries set by SyncCloud on your behalf. A publisher/music library would typically be registered to your tracks as an interested party, take a percent of royalties and have you signed up to a set term. With SyncCloud, you are in control!

    What is the Bespoke Licensing Service?

    If you are protective as to where your tracks are used and you wish us to negotiate a sync fee instead of the set fees given for each licence, then you can opt in to our bespoke licence service (BLS). Simply check the Bespoke Licence Service box when you upload a track. This means you’ll know what your music is intended for before clearing the track. SyncCloud will broker a new sync fee between you and the end user. This option is only available for commercial music or where SyncCloud deems appropriate.

    Do I qualify for the Bespoke License Service?

    If you are an artist or band that has a brand/image to protect, then you are eligible for the Bespoke Licensing Service. If your music has been specifically produced as production music, then your tracks will not be eligible. However, if you feel that you have a good reason to make a track or tracks eligible, you can contact us before signing up here: https://synccloud.net/support/
